Kidman Pleads For Space As She Shows New Daughter Home Town
SYDNEY: Hollywood star Nicole Kidman Thursday asked the paparazzi to back off while she and her country crooner husband Keith Urban show off their new baby in her home town.
Kidman and Urban, both Australians who are now based in the United States, called a Sydney radio station with the plea after flying in with daughter Sunday Rose on their first trip home since her birth on July 7.
“Keith and I are both appealing to the press and stuff just to give us a little space so we can walk around Sydney and show the baby our town,” Kidman told the Kyle and Jackie O breakfast radio show on 2Day FM.
“She’s tiny. She’s like a doll, she’s like a little, little thing. Just (don’t photograph) right in her face or in our faces because it’s scary for her.”
Kidman has complained in the past of fearing for her life as paparazzi in cars pursued her through Sydney.
No photographs of Sunday Rose have been released and Urban confirmed that the couple had no intention of selling any.
Hollywood uber-couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, in contrast, are reported to have been paid several million dollars for the first photos of their newborn twins and are expected to donate the money to charity.
Kidman said her daughter had a hint of her own strawberry blonde hair along with a resemblance to Urban.
“She looks like Keith. I think she does,” Kidman told the radio station. “She’s got a little bit of hair, it’s a bit of a reddish tint.”
Urban also pleaded for photographers to give the family some space.
“I get the interest there is,” he said. “But at the same time it’s our little girl.
“Sometimes when people come right up in your face and you think: ‘Good God, would you do that to anybody else’s child?’ That’s all.”
Kidman, whose mother and sister flew to the US for the birth, said she was now looking forward to introducing her little “doll” to the rest of her family.
